Spartans Helping Spartans.  It’s not just a slogan. It’s one of the reasons why the MSU Alumni Association supports the work that is being done in our local alumni clubs all over the country.

Many of our Spartans in Houston are literally fighting to recover their lives.  Please consider helping them out!

Here is a message from the leadership of the local alumni club in Houston:

Hello Spartans,

The flood waters in our area continue to devastate homes and we know many of you have been affected by the storms.  Spartans from Houston and Alumni Clubs from across the country have reached out to us to learn how they can be of assistance to our affected members in Houston.

We have provided list of charities and organizations assisting those in Houston.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, please look at some of the recommended organizations below.

If you have tangible items (canned food, clothes, diapers, toiletries, etc.), we will have members that will be in need of these items.  We will be collecting these items for donations to affected Spartans.  As of now, we plan on hosting a game watch at McIntyre’s (1230 W. 20th St., Houston, TX 77008) on Saturday, September 2, 2017.  If the water recedes and you are able to safely attend this game watch, please bring your items to this event.

If you are in need of items, please email us at and we will find a way to get you these necessities.  Should we collect more items than our members need, we will donate excess to the George R. Brown Convention Center  or to the Houston Food Bank to assist with those who have been displaced from their homes and are sheltering at the center.

If your homes have been damaged and you need assistance from members in clean-up efforts or if you are someone who is able to lend assistance in clean-up efforts, please email us your request/availability at

Spartans Will,

The Houston Spartans Board
