About

Welcome to the official blog of the Michigan State University Alumni Association’s Professional and Personal Enrichment team.

Are you interested in learning about industries/occupations/businesses that Spartans are in? Do you want someone to give a “10 second opinion” on your resume? Are you considering a move to a new town and want to learn more about it before you go?

This is where you will find people who have already said “YES!” when asked if they will take your phone call. While you’re here, check out a podcast or blog post and learn more from fellow Spartans about what it takes to get into a specific occupation, how to manage transitions in your career, and how to make your Spartan experience more relevant in the community in which you live.

The opinions and views expressed throughout this blog are of the writer(s), and may not be the views and opinions of Michigan State University.

Thank you for peeking at our blog. We hope you are better off for having visited than when you first arrived.

If you have a story to tell about Spartans helping Spartans, or Spartans helping non-Spartans, or something that might be helpful to Spartans then we want to tell your story! Contact us!

Editorial Staff:

Dave Isbell.  Dave is the Assistant Director of Alumni Professional Enrichment in the MSU Alumni Association and is the primary person responsible for this blog and our corresponding twitter account. His primary role in the MSUAA is to develop online content that helps Michigan State alumni to live, work, and play better in their own communities. Dave is not able to accept individual appointments, but in developing programs and projects he does draw from his experience as a Licensed Master Social Worker and his background as a professional Career Coach since 1999.

Lisa Parker. Lisa joined the Michigan State University Alumni Association on May 1, 2012. As the Director of Alumni Professional Initiatives for the Michigan State University Alumni Association, she’s living the Spartan Life while finding new ways to reconnect alumni around the world with MSU in a meaningful way. Whether you’re a newly launched Spartan or an alum with 30 years in the field, know the MSU Alumni Association is working hard to provide professional content and experiences to enhance your life with new connections, skills and ways of thinking. Lisa is not able to accept individual appointments, but she does draw from her 15 years of experience as a 3rd party recruiter when directing initiatives.
